He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water ... his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 1:3

The Marriage Ministry's mission is to inspire, encourage and equip married couples and those who are preparing for marriage, by providing practical, Biblical resources through seminars, retreats, monthly classes and counseling. The Ministry strives to help each husband and wife to have the heart of Christ so they become a financially, emotionally and spiritually stable union.
For the third consecutive year, the Marriage Ministry held its Fall Retreat, titled “This Is Us,” in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in the Great Smoky Mountains. This Retreat took place on September 20-22, and the Marriage Ministry rented two cabins for the occasion. The Retreat was attended by 20 couples: 17 from Woodland Park; and as guests, a married couple that are friends of Bro. and Sis. Turner; Bro. and Sis. Norwood; and Bro. Looney’s brother and his wife. Meals were provided, prepared, and served by some of the married couples for the Thursday night dinner and Friday brunch. On Friday afternoon, the couples were given free time. Some went to Clingman’s Dome on top of the Great Smoky Mountains, some went to the movies, and others went shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Sevierville, TN.
The Marriage Retreat included group discussions on marriage issues Thursday night and Friday morning. On Thursday night after dinner, the couples explored three questions that were presented by the Marriage Ministry. This led to some great discussions and helpful tips. On Friday morning after brunch, the couples discussed the last three questions that had been presented by the Marriage Ministry. These discussions brought a tear or two and many laughs. Overall, we benefited from the dialogue.
In short, we were blessed with safe travels, beautiful weather, great food, great fellowship, and scriptural guidelines on how to enhance our marriages. Many thanks to the Marriage Ministry for a successful 2018 Retreat.
